Manipulation is the most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic, also called “chiropractic adjustment.” The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile or restricted in their movement as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the sufferer. Manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal. (ACA.com)
Pediatric Chiropractic-Spinal restrictions can cause neurological deficits setting back babies or children in their adolescents. These spinal restrictions are frequently due to birth trauma that can create conditions such as colic, ear infections, torticollis (head tilt), asthma, and difficulty nursing. There are many developmental milestones a child will go through that will be physical such as crawling, standing, and walking along with neurological such as hand-eye coordination, speaking, and primitive reflexes. Other common conditions treated are autism, cerebral palsy, and scoliosis. During these stages of development it is important to get your child checked to see how they can benefit from a pediatric chiropractor.

With checking these functional movement screenings and tests the physician can find faulty movement patterns and dysfunctional kinetic chain activity. Once this is found, it is corrected by using lengthening and strengthening techniques with rehabilitation. These functional movement screenings performed are great to do before the start of any athletic season to ensure the athlete can play their best all season long without any injuries.

Extremity Adjusting is a great way to correct a local injury to a specific area of an extremity whether it is the ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, or wrist. These adjusting techniques help those who have a acute (recent injury) or a chronic (long standing injury). If misalignment is found with an extremities joint it can cause numbing, tingling, burning, or aching.
